Mount Everest or ...Everest Base Camp Trek - 16 Days
Mount Everest or Sagarmatha, the highest peak in the world with a height of 8,848 meters lies on the border of Nepal and China. A perfect, exhilarating and mind boggling trekking destination for all kinds of people, it can be accessed via two main routes, southeast base camp - at an altitude of 5354 meters and northeast base camp – at an altitude of 5150 meters. The southeast route is preferred due to its easy accessibility and mostly because of its safety. Trek via the southeast route requires the payment of a certain fee depending upon the route and season of climb while the trek via the northeast route requires permission from the Chinese government.

For the southeast route it is required to trek to Periche, Lobuche, Gorak shep and finally to the Everest Base Camp. Khumbu Icefall is the starting point for the Everest climb followed by Camp 1 at 6065 meters and Camp 2 known as the Advance Base Camp (ABC). Further ascend leads to Camp 3 then Camp 4 and the south summit at 8750 meters and finally to the top of the world.

A flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is followed by trekking upward to the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar, 3440 meters in altitude. After a short but steep climb out of Namche Bazaar, villages of Kenjuma and Sanasa are stepped upon and a descend in the trail brings the trekker to the river Dudh Koshi. After passing a few hamlets and crossing a few bridges, trekkers reach Tengboche.

For the northeast route, Tengboche is followed by a trek to Dingboche and then to Chhukhung, a small village with lodging facilities. Further away lies the base camp at 5087 meters (16690 ft ) called Pareshaya Gyab . An ascend nearly 100 meters from here leads to the Island Peak, “Imja Tse” summit ridge and trekkers are honored with a spectacular view of various nearby mountains such as Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and many others.
website - http://www.nepalholidayplanner.com/Everest-base-camp-trek.phpAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13215769986019798743noreply@blogger.com
